Star Wars Celebration VI: I Want to See Roxy the Rancor!

This past weekend, many many Star Wars fans once again gathered together to celebrate all things related to the greatest saga of all time. They dressed up in costumes, enjoyed live panels and shows, and got to spend time with some of the stars. The event was Star Wars Celebration VI. Just like the previous celebration which took place two years ago, it was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. And just like the last one, I was not there.

However, the coverage of this event across the Internet was so good, I feel like I got to enjoy it even though I wasn’t actually there. All I had to do was check my social media feeds and I could keep up with what was going on. I know it’s not as good as actually being there, but hey, I can pretend.

Celebrity appearances included Mark Hamill (Luke), Carrie Fisher (Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), and and extremely rare appearance by the Emperor himself, Ian McDiarmid. James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Obi-Wan on the Clone Wars, hosted the event. And of course, George Lucas, The Maker, also showed up during the weekend. But I think the biggest star of the event was Roxy the Rancor!

The main events included:

A panel hosted by mega Star Wars fan, Kevin Smith
The reveal of “Star Wars Detours,” an upcoming comedy series from Seth Green and the creators of Robot Chicken
A red carpet premiere for The Clone Wars Season Five
“Smuggler’s Gambit,” a live radio show written by Fanboys director Kyle Newman

Also, two major announcements were made during the closing ceremonies:

Star Wars Celebration Europe II will take place July 26th – 28th, 2013 in Messe Essen, Germany
Episodes II and III will be released in 3D next year
